Here is a copy of my projects spreadsheet, correct at time of uploading (30th September 2009).

* IN PROGRESS *

  • VLC Project: Vehicle Lamp Controller. The aim of this project is to take control of the auxilliary lamps mounted to my Land Rover vehicle and interface them to the standard stalk controls. The lamps will be switchable between a number of pre-defined patterns (which will be stored on an SD card) and there will also be support for a number of flash sequences, for greeting other road users. The lamp patterns and flash sequences will be stored on an SD card and it will be possible for the user to design his/her own lamp patterns and flash sequences to suit their own applications!

* TO DO *

(listed in order of priority)

  • Weather Balloon Data Aquisition, Navigation and Communications Kit: This project will quite literally be a trip to the edge of Space. A weather balloon will carry this project as its payload to an altitude of up to 30KM, which is so far up that the sky turns as black as space (because the sky is infact below it), the temperature drops to -50 DegC, the environment is a near-vacuum and on the horizon it will be possible to see the curvature of the Earth!!! The purpose of the project will be to take Scientific measurements of pressure, temperature, altitude, GPS position and probably some other experiments that I can think of as well. It will store the results on an SD card for further analysis later on. It will also take pictures of the flight so that hopefully I can get some good snaps of the curvature of the Earth and the blackness of Space. It will monitor its position via GPS and transmit its lattitude and longitude via digital radio, so that I can track its progress and follow it in a chase car. The balloon will also be capable of accepting control commands from the ground. The project will also control the deployment of a parachute so that hopefully there can be some form of controlled landing! This will be my most ambitious and exciting project to date.
  • Propellor Clock: Inspired by this!
  • Discovery I LED Lamp Kit: I'm fed up of replacing the bulbs at the rear of my Discovery. There are loads of them, and each is very difficult to get to (even with my tiny hands). But... wouldn't it be so much better if they were all replaced with LEDs? Yes it would! This will be a kit to convert the entire rear lamp setup to LEDs.
  • RFID Project: I am sick and tired of door locks. In this day and age, we should all be using RFID tags! It may even be possible to have one implanted into my hand, so that I can open and start my car, gain entrance to my front door, and open my garage all by waving my hand in front of them. Cool? You better believe it. Here is a project to rid my life of mechanical locks and keys.
